Imagine a quiet area where you could pursue your craft free of distractions. The Lookout, located in cultivated agricultural lands in north-central Montana, offers just such a retreat. A serene studio situated between the Bears Paw Mountains and the Sweet Grass Hills, the Lookout was built to give all manner of artists a stress-free oasis of solitude wherein to create new works. Built on 16 acres of soil undisturbed since the ice age, this studio allows a 360° panoramic view of Montana’s great plains. Our Facilities
Get an upscale homesteader experience. Solar panels provide electricity in the form of batteries. An elevated twin bed adjacent to a window allows you to gaze at the stars. Your outdoor shower is attached on the deck. The outhouse is a short walk downhill.
Make the Most of the Abundance of Nature
Enjoy the abundance of nature from the Lookout’s fully encircling deck. Early spring brings the sharp-tailed grouse to their lek, located less than 20 yards from your door. Coyotes can often be heard in the distance as they hunt. Whitetail deer, mule deer, and antelope graze undisturbed through the fields. Harriers, hawks, owls, and eagles soar gracefully through our vast Big Sky Country. Migrating waterfowl find a restful interlude when the winter snow runoff gives us the seasonal “Lookout Lake.”
